Ntomba Lokoso
“Lokoso”
From the import record: We found Lokoso in small village inland form the Maringa River. We specifically went inland to look for native dogs that were used for hunting with minimal outside influence. We asked our interpreter to ask the hunters to not go into the bush so members of our team could examine their dogs. I was interested in a red girl. We retrieved two pups from this village; these pups and the other adult dogs were consistent Basenji type. Lokoso (named by the local the "greedy one" in Lingala due to her strong desire to eat and steal food) is a very lovely deep red color. Lokoso is a lovely gentle girl that is playful, extremely intelligent, and has formed a very close attachment to me. She has wonderful expression with good wrinkle, nice dark eye rims and nose pigment and dark, "far-seeing" eyes. when she is alerted, her ears are up and hooded which adds to her wrinkle and lovely expression. Her coat is short, skin very pliant, and the coat color a deep red (sh is genetically "true-for-red"; AyAy). She has good bone and moderate layback of the shoulders (tightly knit shoulders) along with a nice front assembly. she is moderately angulated in both front and rear with a strong flexible loin. She has a perfect scissor bite. She is quite the hunter and has taken a strong interest in lure coursing. But her most endearing quality is her "baroo". she baroos out of sheer joy and will light up the room with her baroo talk. She is a pleasure to live with and a sacred treasure to me.
