Avongara Kiri

“Kiri”

From the importer's application: Kiri was acquired February of 2015 in South Sudan just 16 miles west of Nzara near the DRC border. She was born in a rural area within a Zande family compound. She quickly warmed up to me and was playing with a new friend Nzoro, the other dog I acquired, that evening.

She has a quiet submissive temperament. She is not standoffish and will meet and greet new people. She is quiet most of the time but will produce a low toned baroo which comes out when you least expect it. She has shown an interest in all things bird. Not only is she fascinated by the birds but she also likes to acquire their feathers to chew on. She took immediately to chasing the bunny at a practice lure coursing event.

Kiri is longer than tall. She is light boned, slender and feminine. Her coat is short and fine on a pliant skin. It has a nice red color with a minimum of white on her belly, feet, and tail tip and some dark hairs on the inside curve of her tail. Her muzzle is shorter than the skull and she has a scissor bite. Kiri has small hooded ears which produce wrinkles when erect. Her eyes are dark hazel and almond shaped. Top line is level. Chest is proper width and she is long legged. Feet are small, oval, and compact. Her tail has a loose curl which lies on her right hip.

Kiri is the Zande word for the palm bell worn by the hunting dogs.
