Avongara Makala

“Makala”

Makala is a female black and white basenji, born approximately 2009, imported to the U.S. on March 4, 2011, discovered in DR Congo.

Imported by Katie Campbell, Michael Work, Jon Curby, owned by Pat Marshall and Katie Campbell.

Makala is very friendly and talkative. She always greets you with a licky-licky kiss and a big baroo, but never barks. She is keenly aware of her surroundings is a true survivalist. What one cannot appreciate from her photos is Makala's deeply set, truly almond shaped, black eye color with black rims. She possesses the highly coveted small hooded ears, as well as a razor short coat and well padded feet, not to mention an unusually generous and proper length of upper arm. Makala is a joy to live with; she is a Hoot! Makala's name comes from her native language of Lingala. It means "Charcoal".
